چکیده

Reaction of the linear thorocene with NC(-), N3(-) and H(-) led to the bent derivatives [(Cot)2Th(X)](-) (X = CN, N3) and the bimetallic [{(Cot)2Th}2(μ-H)](-), whereas only [(Cot)2U(CN)](-) could be formed from (Cot)2U.

The reactivity patterns of low-coordinate iron-hydride complexes.

We report a survey of the reactivity of the first isolable iron-hydride complexes with a coordination number less than 5. The high-spin iron(II) complexes [(beta-diketiminate)Fe(mu-H)] 2 react rapidly with representative cyanide, isocyanide, alkyne, N 2, alkene, diazene, azide, CO 2, carbodiimide, and Brønsted acid containing substrates. The reaction outcomes fall into three categories: (1) add...

The inhibition of caeruloplasmin by cyanide.

1. The reversible inhibition of the oxidase activity of caeruloplasmin by cyanide was investigated. 2. The kinetics are unusual, being competitive but with the inhibited complex formed only during cycling. 3. Inhibitory concentrations of cyanide are comparable with that of caeruloplasmin. 4. One azide group completely inhibits a caeruloplasmin molecule but two cyanide groups are required. 5. Th...

Azo complexes of osmium(II): preparation and reactivity of organic azide and hydrazine derivatives.

Mixed-ligand hydride complexes OsHCl(CO)(PPh3)2L (2) [L = P(OMe)3, P(OEt)3] were prepared by allowing OsHCl(CO)(PPh3)3 (1) to react with an excess of phosphite P(OR)3 in refluxing toluene. Dichloro compounds OsCl2(CO)(PPh3)2L (3, 4) were also prepared by reacting 1, 2 with HCl. Treatment of hydrides OsHCl(CO)(PPh3)2L (2), first with triflic acid and then with an excess of RN3 afforded organic a...

How does cyanide inhibit superoxide reductase? Insight from synthetic FeN4S model complexes

and CN2 have been shown to bind to the catalytic iron site of SOR, and cyanide acts as an inhibitor. To understand how these exogenous ligands alter the physical and reactivity properties of the SOR iron site, acetate-, azide-, and cyanide-ligated synthetic models of SOR have been prepared. The x-ray crystal structures of azideligated [Fe(SN4(tren))(N3)] (3), dimeric cyanide-bridged ([Fe(SN4(tr...

How does cyanide inhibit superoxide reductase? Insight from synthetic FeIIIN4S model complexes.

Superoxide reductases (SORs) are nonheme iron-containing enzymes that reduce HO(2) to H(2)O(2). Exogenous substrates such as N(3)(-) and CN(-) have been shown to bind to the catalytic iron site of SOR, and cyanide acts as an inhibitor. To understand how these exogenous ligands alter the physical and reactivity properties of the SOR iron site, acetate-, azide-, and cyanide-ligated synthetic mode...
